Happy New Year!
Here are photos of my NEW HAIR CUT!! (that almost didn't happen...)
It's not EXACTLY what I wanted. I wanted more hair on the sides and not this mo-hawk look. I wanted less in the back.If I could take the little bit of hair from the back and paste in on the sides, it would be PERFECT!
The good thing though, is that in a couple weeks the sides will grow in the way I want them to and I'll be even more pleased. I think it will grow in and look even better than what I originally wanted.
I like the shape and I love the faded sides. Over all I am very pleased. The barber did a Superb job all for $10.00. I am so happy I opted for the barber shop instead of a beauty salon. You KNOW I would not have gotten this cut from a Salon for anything CLOSE to $10.00. And while we're on the subject, aren't barbers techinally natural hair stylist?!?!? I mean, isn't the majority of their clientèle natural? So who better to cut (short) natural hair than them? They get clients with all textures, lengths, styles and needs.
I got my hair cut on hair that was co-washed the night before and was competely dry and curly. The barber picked it out and then cut it. WHen I left I looked like Strange' from Boomerang! Or a pencil with a fresh, never been used eraser.
When I got home I co-washed again with Organix Coconut Milk and threw in little baking soda to get my curls to behave. Then I spritzed my hair with Cutie Juice Cocktail and finished it with Coconut Confidence. I then put my hair in 8 large two strand twists and tied a cotton scarf on to soak up the excess moisture. (The only reason I used cotton was to get the excess water and oil out quickly, normally I would avoid cotton).
After about 30 monitues I took the twists out and snapped these photos. I cannot wait to see what it looks like tomorrow!
What do you think? Have you ever thought of barbers as the real natural hair professionals? Are you rocking a new do? Please share your thoughts.

Oh how you torture us with the Cutie Juice cocktail...I can not wait to purchase. SO come on...post it already!! *smile* *Ants in my pants*
oh my this is soo hawt! love it and i know you got tha attitude to match! way to put an awesome spin on being natural!
It's very edgy & it suits you, I like it. Never thought of barbers as hair stylists, but they technically are. I'm getting bored with a twa because there is really nothing that I can do with it. Either get a fierce haircut like you did or wait til it become voluminous enough to style it & experiment with it :shrugs:
OMG!! I love it!! It looks so cool. It's refreshing to see a TWA look so different. I'm definitely inspired. I can't wait until mine grows out a little so I can get a cool cut! The barber did go ham on the sides but it still came out great!!! I love it!
OMG! I love it! That is soooo fly!
OMG! i had to catch my breath when I saw your first pic. Super Fly is all that I can say. I love love love it.
OMG!I HAD TO CATCH MY BREATH WHEN I SAW YOUR FIRST PIC. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR HAIR CUT. IT IS SUPER FLY!
it looks great. and no i would of never thought that barbers would be able to produce a such beautiful haircut. i always thought all they did was basically do hair cut and fades, but not be able to do this type of style. now that i know i will deff visit a barber in the future to get my sides tapered.
It looks super cute Sunshine! Congrats!
That is so ROCKIN!!! Beautiful!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Love the Hair!!! Just wanted to say you're such a beautiful person (& omg so is your "shea" baby lol)!! i just watched all the videos on the side of your pg & I'm happy to share that I'm FINALLY trying the whole natural thing!!! i don't know if you remember, but i'd come over to your blogs months ago for inspiration & now i'm finally trying it...your video with the chunky-twist outs just gave me more "edge" to do it (i take out my individuals next week, then i'll be on the natural journey! :) Hopefully i'll have pix...Thanks!!
Sunshine, you are an effin natural superstar! Luvs it! I saw the vid the other day about how the cut almost didn't go down. You two are so cute. I hope when I have a husband we are this cute. Lol. Happy New Year!
Sunshine. Sunshine! Sunshine!! How many times did I call your name?? Lol!
I live next door to a barber shop. You are making it VERY hard for me to stay away from the tapering! Every time I walk outta my front door, I think about it. And now, the low price entices me further. Grr!!
It looks great and I'm proud of you for going to get the cut!!

Luv it! Ur right, in a couple weeks it will be even MORE fierce. My husband gets his hair cut "too short" all of the time because it grows back so fast that he would have to get it cut really quickly. But getting it cut too short will give you a couple more weeks of enojoyment before it grows out!
only time I went to a barbershop for a cut it was awful. not feminine at all. like you, I had to go home and fix it and then wait for the sides to grow back because he'd cut it too low. before letting a dude cut my hair again, i'd need to be sure that he knew what I wanted/how to do it. your cut looks great though, esp from the front.
FABULOUS!!!!!
I went to the barber for the first time (for myself) in my life last week. They were all Spanish men speaking so fast in their native tongue (guess who's gonna start learning Spanish?) but it was a great experience. I live in a basically "Caucasian City" so I searched high and lo for an ethnic barber shop. I quickly came to the realization that there would be no Cindy's working on this head of hair. I need a shapist and someone who can WORK like a surgeon with some clippers. I love my barber and I made him enter a pact that he can never leave the state (unless I leave first) that is how much I loved my first trim. And all for $10.00 as well. Gotta love it!
My best, Lynn
